British GT3 - Silverstone 500 Guest Round Race Review

It was great to get back behind the wheel of the TF Sport prepared, Aston Martin Vantage GT3. This time racing along side team mate, Giacomo Petrobelli. Despite Giacomo not racing anything since 2014, he showed us all that he’s still got it. Silverstone didn’t end up being the weekend that we were hoping for however we displayed the pace that we capable of which was very promising.
The weekend started with practice. We started a little off where we needed to be on set up. After lots of hard work from everyone we got the car where it needed to be for qualifying and it was great to get plenty more time in the seat for Giacomo and I.
Next up was qualifying. The car was feeling great. Giacomo went first and put in a great performance finishing as the quickest bronze driver on the grid. I then jumped in the car for qualifying 2. I had very strong pace however traffic on my best lap prevented a top result, resulting in starting 10th out of 38 cars for Sundays Silverstone 500.
We had a fantastic start to the race moving up from 10th to 4th overall showing some great pace and the car was feeling good. However, we then received two drive through penalties. We were still in 9th overall and our sights were still set on a Pro/Am podium. Sadly, we then had to retire the car after a GTC car came into contact with Giacomo. This was a bitter end to our weekend but there are lots of positives we can take out, as well as lessons learnt for next time. We will be back!
