British GT Oulton Park Race Review Round 1 & 2

Round 1 - DNF

Round 2 - 9th in Class

Last weekend was the British GT season opener where I had my first race weekend in the new Aston Martin Vantage GT4 with TF Sport. We topped the times in both Friday practice sessions and then 4th in both Saturday sessions giving us confidence going into qualifying. I qualified P2 in class in the extremely competitive Pro Group.
In the first race my team mate, Ash Hand, was hit near to the end of his stint putting us in the garage for the remainder of the race and I therefore didn’t get the chance to drive in Race 1. In Race 2 I started the Race P5 on the grid knowing we had the pace to get a podium or even a win. I had a good start and broke away with the front pack pressuring them constantly. I knew I had the pace to pass them, however we started battling and the began to defend at the front. Then still early in my stint I had contact with another car dropping me right to the back! I had good pace coming back before my team mate took over for his stint where he continued the climb up the field. We finished the race 9th in class.
After a tough start to the race we did not let our heads drop and pulled it back to make the best of a bad situation. The team, TF Sport, did an exceptional job all weekend. The TF Sport Aston Martin Vantage was truly a pleasure to drive and I cannot wait until Round 2 at Snetterton on the 18th to 19th May. A big thank you to the Aston Martin Racing Academy who provided all of the preparation for the race and support throughout the race weekend. I would also like to thank YRDA for their continued support.
